Dharmavaram is the 2nd biggest town and a municipality located in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Dharmavaram is now "Selection Grade Municipality", previous it is 2nd Grade Municipality. It is famous throughout India for producing silk sarees. The Dharmavaram Temples are important places of pilgrimage. Puttaparthi, the birthplace and abode of Sathya Sai Baba is situated 42 km from Dharmavaram.The Railway station is a major junction which falls in Wadi-Bangalore route and Guntakal-Tirupathi route and Dharmavaram-Puttaparthi route. Every train will stop here for 15 minutes including RAJDHANI and other Super fast trains.This Dharmavaram Junction is the end-point of South Central Railways (SCR) and Southern Railways (SR).All major trains pass through this city. There is a lake in Dharmavaram and it is 2nd biggest lake in the district located on Chitravathi River origins at Nandi Hills,Chickballapur District,Karnataka. Dharmavaram is a railway junction which falls under South Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways. Dharmavaram is just 39 km away from Anantapur city. It is one of the Revenue divisions in the district. Dharmavaram is also one of the Roads and Bungalows (R&B) division.
